Homing In On The Vision

Description
One of the advantages of our “mold the clay” philosophy is that we often come up with designs that evolve as we collaborate with the client. The basic composition may be rearranged and tweaked, and sometimes the outline may change shape, but the ability to hear a voice and translate a vision is the ultimate goal. In this case, the process produced two fantastic designs! The photo progression below gives a great visual perspective of the transformation.
The initial concept (or lump of clay) in this case was a modern prairie style home situated on a partially wooded lot with open field on two sides and a pond view. The clients desired many tall windows to maximize views and bring the feel of nature indoors. Wish list items included a dramatic front entry, a custom full bar area, an eye-catching feature wall, interior stone columns and arches, and a fully functional outdoor kitchen space. The site also lent itself to a walkout basement design, creating a private guest suite and patio area.

Details
Other notable details include an uplifting clerestory, decorative beam and ceiling accents, a lower-level salon space and theater room, and a serene four seasons room perfect for contemplation and relaxation. As the design developed and each artful amenity was incorporated, one block of clay was sculpted and molded into the shape of a beautifully modeled, multi-faceted home specifically tailored to fit the needs of the client.
